Opening the Page- Writing for Life
The Connection Between Writing & Wellness
Have you ever picked up your pen, started scribbling and found yourself venting or processing a difficult experience out on the page? Writing, in any form, can be used as a tool for physical, emotional and spiritual healing and wellness.
Writing detailed accounts of experiences, and connecting our emotions with them can have both short and long-term benefits to those who have experienced illness, grief, loss and trauma in their lives.
Writing for health and wellness can:
• Relieve stress, lower blood pressure, and boost the immune system.
• Improve clarity, insight and lift your emotional mood.
• Lead to understanding of personal events, process traumatic experiences and brainstorm action plans.
Whether you just want to vent on the page, write the memoir that you’ve always been thinking about, create poetry, or jump into another character, writing prompts and techniques can guide you through writing toward wellness in your life.
