Megan's Bio

Megan has been a writer ever since she can remember. As a child, writing provided an avenue of self expression.

From 1994 to 1998, Megan attended Randolph-Macon Woman's College in Lynchburg, Virginia, where she majored in English with an emphasis Creative Writing and minored in Sociology. Randolph-Macon Woman's College offered academic excellence in their Creative Writing program, honing Megan's skills of poetry, non-fiction and fiction. As a junior, she studied abroad in Australia completing independent study thesis in Aboriginal oral history, specifically to Alice Springs.

After graduating, Megan worked at Phifer Wire Products, Inc. in Tuscaloosa, Alabama organizing trade shows in advertising. Outside of her full time job, she became involved with an informal creative writing group and began training in Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu. In 2001, when her mother died suddenly to complications from Multiple Sclerosis, writing and training in martial arts provided an avenue for healing and regaining focus.

Megan moved to Raleigh, North Carolina in 2005, which provided the opportunity to shift into professional communications, freelance writing and editing. In addition, she is a creative writing instructor and mentor facilitating workshops, specifically emphasizing writing and wellness.

Together, Megan and her husband, Barton have collaborated on professional communication projects, workshops and speaking engagements across the US.
